Best Free ATS Resume Checkers Compared (2026)

Jobscan, Resume Worded, Enhancv, Rezi, Kickresume and SwitchWithAI compared: what each free ATS checker gives you, the limits, and which fits an Indian job seeker.

By SwitchWithAI Team — Career tools, ATS workflows, and job-search research

Every ATS checker says it is free. Look closer and "free" can mean five scans a month, a partial score, a seven-day trial, or a result you can see only after you hand over your email. If you are job hunting in India and paying in rupees, the details matter.

This comparison covers the tools job seekers actually use: Jobscan, Resume Worded, Enhancv, Rezi, Kickresume and SwitchWithAI. We make SwitchWithAI, so we have an obvious interest, and we have tried to be fair about where others are stronger. Everything about other products comes from their public pages and third-party reviews. Features and prices change often and vendors price in US dollars, so check each product's own site before you pay.

The short version

SwitchWithAIFull ATS check, no account, DOCX, PDF or TXTPaid plans in rupees for tailoringNewer and smaller; improves your resume rather than building one

Source notes: Jobscan, Resume Worded, Enhancv, Rezi and Kickresume details come from vendor pages and third-party reviews, some of which are written by competitors and some of which disagree with each other. Treat prices as approximate.

What to compare, and why

Before the tools, decide what you need. Four questions separate the options.

1. Is the check really free? Can you see the findings before signing up, and is there a cap?

2. Does it check the file or only the text? Pasted text cannot show whether tables, columns or graphics will parse. Uploading the real DOCX or PDF can.

3. Does it explain itself? A bare number is a toy. A list of specific findings is a tool. We cover why in what is a good ATS score.

4. What happens to your resume? Your file holds your phone number, history and email. Look for a clear statement about storage.

A fifth question matters if you are in India: does it understand where you are applying? Naukri, LinkedIn and company career pages, rupee pricing and Indian formats such as a photo, a date of birth or a declaration line.

Jobscan

Jobscan is one of the best-known names in this space. Its core idea is to compare your resume with a specific job description and show a match report: which keywords you have, which are missing. Reviews report a small number of free scans per month and a paid subscription for unlimited use, along with extras such as cover letter and LinkedIn tools.

Where it is strong: maturity, a long track record, and a match-report approach many people are comfortable with. Where to be careful: the free cap, prices set in US dollars, and, as with any keyword matcher, the temptation to chase a match percentage by adding words you cannot support. For a fuller head-to-head, see SwitchWithAI vs Jobscan.

Resume Worded

Resume Worded gives you a score out of 100 against its own list of recruiter-style checks, with a free tier that shows part of the feedback and a paid tier that opens the rest. It also reviews LinkedIn profiles.

Where it is strong: the scoring is easy to understand and it covers LinkedIn as well as your resume. Where to be careful: reported Pro prices vary between sources, so verify the current figure, and a partial free score may leave you without the detail you need.

Enhancv

Enhancv combines a resume builder with an ATS checker, and its own description of the checker mentions 27 checks across content, layout and formatting. The checks are built into the editor.

Where it is strong: if you want to build and check in one place, it is convenient. Where to be careful: one review describes free access as a time-limited trial, so confirm what you actually get without paying.

Rezi

Rezi is a resume builder with its own scoring criteria and a free tier with limits on resumes and downloads, according to comparison pages from itself and from a competitor. Paid plans include monthly and lifetime options.

Where it is strong: a builder-first approach with scoring built in. Where to be careful: vendor and competitor pages disagree on prices, and the free tier's limits are tight. Verify before relying on it.

Kickresume

Kickresume is a template-based builder with a free tier that allows basic customisation and an AI resume checker.

Where it is strong: many templates and a generous free tier for building. Where to be careful: heavily designed templates are exactly what can cause parsing trouble, so run the finished file through a checker that reads the actual document. Our guide to resume formatting that survives parsing explains the usual traps.

SwitchWithAI

The SwitchWithAI ATS checker is free, needs no account and does not store your resume. You can upload a DOCX, PDF or TXT file and, if you like, paste a job description. It checks that contact details are readable, that section headings are standard, that dates are consistent, that results are stated with numbers, that bullets lead with action, that the length is sensible and how much of the job's language you already use. It is explicit that it cannot know an employer's private rules.

What is different is the step after the check. Instead of sending you to a builder or a subscription, SwitchWithAI tailors the resume inside your own document. Your fonts, columns and margins stay put, it adds only what your experience supports, and every change is shown for you to accept or reject. If a job asks for something you do not have, it tells you instead of writing it in. For Indian users, a Chrome extension captures a posting from Naukri.

Where it is strong: an honest, no-signup check; tailoring that keeps your design; rupee pricing. Where it is weaker, honestly: it is newer and smaller than the established names, and it improves the resume you already have. It does not build one from a blank page.

So which should you use?

  • You want to build a resume from scratch: a builder such as Enhancv, Rezi or Kickresume, then run the finished file through an independent checker.
  • You want a match report for one job and are comfortable paying in dollars: Jobscan is the established choice.
  • You want a quick check and a score: Resume Worded or the SwitchWithAI checker, depending on how much detail you want free.
  • You already have a resume you like and want it tailored without losing its design: that is what SwitchWithAI is for. If you are unsure whether you need a checker or a tailoring tool, read ATS checker or resume tailor: which do you need.

Whatever you choose, use a checker as a way to remove avoidable problems, not as a promise. No tool can see inside an employer's system.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free ATS resume checker?

It depends what you need. For a no-signup check of your real file with specific findings, the SwitchWithAI checker is built for that. For a match report on a single job, Jobscan is well established but limits free scans. Compare how much each shows you before it asks for payment.

Is Jobscan free?

Jobscan offers a limited free tier; reviews report about five scans a month, with a paid subscription for unlimited scans. Check Jobscan's own pricing page for current limits and prices.

Is there a free Jobscan alternative for India?

Yes. SwitchWithAI's ATS checker is free without an account, accepts DOCX, PDF and TXT, and you can paste a posting from Naukri, LinkedIn or a company site. Tailoring is a paid feature priced in rupees.

Do ATS checkers store my resume?

It varies. Check each tool's privacy statement before uploading. SwitchWithAI reads your resume for the check and does not store it.

Can I trust the score a free ATS checker gives me?

Trust the findings more than the number. Every tool uses its own checks and weights, and none can see an employer's private screening rules.

Try it on your own resume

Run your resume through the free checker, compare the findings with any other tool you use, and fix what several of them agree on.

Try it on yours

Upload or paste your resume and see what a parser makes of it.

Your resume is read for the check only and never stored. No account is needed.
