What a data scientist recruiter reads first

Data roles are screened on tools first (SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI or Tableau) and judged on outcomes second: what question you answered and what changed because of it. A dashboard nobody used is weaker than a report that changed a decision.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Tools with no sign of what you did with them.
  • Model accuracy without the business result it served.
  • Leaving out the size of the data, when you know it.

A bullet pattern that works

Analysed [data set] with [SQL / Python] to answer [business question], which led [team] to [decision], saving [X].

A pattern, not an example to copy: fill each bracket with something you really did, or leave it out.
